Electric Cars 101: Your Guide to EVs
Are You Ready for ALL-ELECTRIC Home Heating & Cooling?
In a fabulous collaboration between the town of Penfield's Energy and Environmental Advisory Committee (EEAC) and Color Penfield Green, two adult education courses were developed and taught this fall at the Penfield Community Center. Each will be offered again in the winter and then again in the spring (course descriptions are below). Be on the look out for the winter/spring 2022 Penfield Recreation Brochure in your mailbox to sign up.
Igor Orlovich, Matt Corona, Al Hibner, and Bob Kanauer, (pictured) are all-electric enthusiasts and teach the classes, with guest speakers: the director of Heat Smart Monroe, other EV owners, as well as car dealers.
Our first go round this fall, 47 people showed up to learn more about Electric Cars from local experts and EV owners. 22 took the class on All-Electric Clean Heating and Cooling! We were floored with the turnout!
In addition to helping community members learn more about the advantages and challenges of transitioning to a lower carbon lifestyle, these classes are also part of "community campaigns" for NYSERDA's Clean Energy Communities Program and could earn $5,000 in grant money for future town sustainability projects as well as points toward the town's designation as a Clean Energy Community.
We are grateful for the opportunity to work with the EEAC's Sarah Waterman, Mark Valentine, and Bob Kanauer and are already looking forward to the next partnership!
Can't wait for Jan/Feb to learn more? Email colorpenfieldgreen@gmail.com with questions or connect with Matt Corona about clean heating and cooling anytime at HeatSmartMonroe.
